A decal set with unit insignia for models of German Second World War vehicles in 1:35 scale. According to its name it contains 11 variants of the markings of the division concerned. The decals are meant to complete a model that has already been built and painted; the set contains no vehicle, paints or glue. They can be used on wheeled and tracked vehicles alike, depending on what you are building.

What the set is for

Unit and tactical insignia were applied to the hull, the fenders or the front and rear surfaces of vehicles, and for a modeler they are a reliable guide to placing a model with a particular unit. A set with several variants lets you mark a number of vehicles in a single diorama scene without repeating the markings. The insignia are drawn for 1:35 scale, that is for the most common scale of military vehicle models.

How to apply the decals

First coat the area the decal is going onto with a gloss varnish. A matte surface is microscopically textured and a silvered patch would form under the decal. Cut the decal out as close to the design as you can, soak it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and leave it on the paper until it can be slid. Transfer it to the model, settle it in position and blot off the excess water with a cloth. On a textured surface use a decal softener so that the design pulls down onto the detail. Once dry, apply a varnish and only then unify the sheen with a matte or satin coat.
