What the rivets are for

Separate rivets 1.0 millimeter in size for building and detailing models. They replace places where a kit only suggests a rivet with a shallow raised dot, or does not have one at all. The difference tells mainly in the view from the side and in sharp light, where a flat suggested rivet disappears, whereas a separate part casts a shadow of its own. The letter in brackets after the dimension tells the configurations within the range apart.

Field of use

It is aimed at motorcycle models, but the use is wider: frames, sheet metal covers, mountings, tanks, connecting straps and all the places where a joint is to be visible. It will serve just as well on builds of vehicles and military equipment. It is useful to have several sizes at home, because it is precisely the size that decides whether a rivet looks to scale on a model or coarse. Before fitting, therefore, compare the size with the part the rivet is aimed at.

How to fit them

• mark the spacing on the part first, as regularity shows more than the shape of a single rivet
• drill the hole with a drill bit a little smaller than the shank, so that the rivet holds by itself
• pick them up with tweezers over a tray with a raised edge, as a small part will not be found on a carpet
• dose the glue with the tip of a toothpick, as a drop floods the rivet and the shape disappears
• degrease the surface before painting
• try one piece dry first, and only then fit a whole row

The rivets are supplied on their own. The model, glue, paints and tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
