About product

The real subject

The Battle of Austerlitz, named in Czech sources after the village of Slavkov, was fought on 2 December 1805 in Moravia and ranks among the best known engagements of the Napoleonic Wars. The battlefield lies in what is now the Czech Republic. The bust captures Napoleon Bonaparte from the chest up, that is, in the part where the face, the hat and the collar of the coat carry the main weight.

What the set contains

A bust in 1:10 scale intended to be glued together and painted. The number of parts, the material and the recommended procedure are given in the manufacturer's instructions. Use an adhesive suitable for the material of the parts; with figure models super glue works well, as it joins even smooth surfaces.

Building and painting tips

Fill and sand the joints at the neck, the shoulders and the hat before you reach for paint, because under the uniform area of broadcloth every seam shows. Wash and degrease the surface and spray it with a primer. Paint the face in layers and build the shadows gradually; on a historical bust the expression matters more than the uniform. The large areas of the coat, on the other hand, need a smooth transition, so it pays to work with thinned paint and to let every coat dry through. Give the finished bust a coat of matte varnish and bring the sheen back only where metal or leather is meant to be.

Who it is for

The bust is for a modeler who works on figures and on the history of the Napoleonic Wars. The 1:10 scale allows the face to be worked out in a detail that a figure in a small scale cannot reach, and at the same time it is a size that shows well in a display case. Paints, glue and a base are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

It is not. It is supplied to be glued together and painted, and the procedure is given in the manufacturer's instructions.

Austerlitz is the name of the battle fought on 2 December 1805 in Moravia, which Czech sources call the battle of Slavkov.

The name does not determine the material; the manufacturer gives it. Choose both the glue and the primer according to it.

The extent of the delivery is given by the manufacturer; do not count on a base, paints or glue being in the package, unless stated otherwise.
