A miniature set of a steam cutter with a wooden hull from the brand Zebrano. The subject is a launch 34 feet long, that is, roughly ten and a half meters; converted, the finished model comes out at some eleven centimeters. It is a vessel in its own right, but it will serve just as well as the missing equipment on the deck of a larger warship model.
Steam cutters belonged to the usual equipment of the large surface ships of the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. They carried officers and mail to shore, provided the connection between vessels at anchor, patrolled the entrances to harbors and did auxiliary duty during exercises. The form with a wooden hull corresponds to the ordinary unarmed version; alongside it a variant adapted to carry torpedo armament came into being as well.
With an object this small, the cleanness of the surface decides. Sand the mating surfaces flat, fill the seams with a thin layer of filler and go over the whole with a primer before spraying, so that the faintly suggested details are not lost. The hull tends to be rewarding for a wood glaze completed with a dark waterline, and the metal parts will take fine drybrushing. The railings and the lines can be suggested with drawn fishing line.
The set is intended to be glued together and painted; the package does not contain coating materials or glue.
