The real subject

The Lorraine 38L VBCP is a French light tracked armored vehicle derived from the supply tracked tractor of the Lorraine family. It was intended to carry the infantry of motorized units close to the battlefield, for which it had an armored compartment for the men and a towed trailer. The vehicle had a low silhouette and light armor and was conceived as a transport rather than a combat vehicle. Machines of this family were used in 1940 and some captured vehicles were operated by other armies as well.

Building and painting tips

The low hull and the tracks call for careful fit: dry-fit the assembly and apply the glue sparingly. Paint the running gear and the underside before you close the hull up. If the kit also contains the trailer, assemble and paint it separately and attach it only at the end. For painting use a thin primer and heavily thinned paint at low pressure. French multi-tone camouflage with a dark outline is best managed in 1:100 with a fine brush. Keep mud effects on the running gear to a discreet level, so that they do not cover the moldings.
