An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet IS-3 heavy tank in the small 1:100 scale from Zvezda. The set is assembled by snapping the parts together (snap-fit) with no need for glue, has a low parts count and is usually part of a collectible line for a tabletop game. It is a quick and undemanding build even for complete beginners.
The IS-3 was a Soviet heavy tank from the end of the Second World War, easily recognized by the sloped front of the hull in the shape of a pike nose and by the rounded cast cone of the turret. This shaping increased the resistance of the armor and foreshadowed the postwar development of heavy tanks; with its rugged silhouette it remains very popular among collectors.
The parts simply click out of the sprue and snap together; glue is not necessary, though a small drop of plastic cement will strengthen the joints. Although the model is small, once the base green is sprayed on and a simple patina is added with a wash and a dry brush it looks very effective. An ideal model for a display case or a table.
