LACI 1:144 Convair 880-22M Landing Flaps is a resin set of the extended high-lift devices of the wing for a model of the Convair 880 in the Model 22M version. It is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a stand-alone model.

An accessory resin set for a model of the Convair 880 in the Model 22M version in 1:144 scale. It replaces the trailing section of the wing of a plastic kit with the devices in the fully extended position. For the basic 880-22 version there is a separate item, because the devices of the two versions are not identical. It is not a kit of an airplane but a conversion accessory.
The Convair 880 belonged to the first generation of American jet airliners. It was narrower than the competing types and had the reputation of a very fast machine, but commercially it succeeded only to a limited extent and only a small series was built. The Model 22M designation was carried by an improved variant intended for more demanding operation at higher weights, in which the designers modified the high-lift devices of the wing so that the aircraft kept acceptable take-off and landing qualities. It is precisely because of those changes that telling the two versions apart is worth watching for a modeler - the shape of the wing is one of the few places where the machines differ at first glance.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with detergent, because otherwise paint will not take hold over residue of mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw and level the surfaces by sanding with breathing protection, best of all wet. The trailing section of the kit wing has to be cut away - work in small steps and keep trying the part dry. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and for more time to align a part reach for the gel version. Once it has cured, apply a primer, which shows where filler needs to be added. On the polished metal surfaces of airliners of this era the quality of the base decides: every scratch is emphasized under metallic paint, so sand the surface with fine sponges and apply the metallic paint only at the end.
This is an accessory set, not a stand-alone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
