A set of cast resin hose joints and end fittings from the Japanese manufacturer Top Studio in 1:12 scale, cut for the 1.2 mm size. It is not a model of a motorcycle or a kit, but a detailing accessory with which the fluid routing on a model is fitted. The material is resin, so the parts are sharply cast and stand up to detailed painting and to polishing the edges.
What the set is for
On a real motorcycle the brake, fuel and coolant hoses are terminated with metal fittings and adapters. A plastic kit as a rule only suggests them, or deals with them as a single casting together with the rest of the part. The set replaces them with separate elements, so the routing comes across realistically and the hose is visually terminated the same way as on the real subject. The figure of 1.2 mm gives the size of the set, that is, how thick a run it is intended for. Finer sizes come into their own on a model mainly on brake and fuel hoses.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water, so that the remains of the mold release agent disappear. Separate them from the casting blocks with a sharp knife or a fine saw, and never break them off. Sanding is better done wet and with respiratory protection. It is bonded with super glue based on cyanoacrylate, as an ordinary cement for plastic has no effect on resin. Before painting, a thin coat of base helps; the end fittings look good in metallic shades or in black with the edges lightly polished.
This is an accessory for building a model, not a kit in its own right. The base model, hoses, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
