Injection-molded plastic kit of the Suzuki GSX1100S Katana motorcycle in 1:12 scale from the Japanese company Tamiya, done in the striking custom tuned specification. Rubber tires are included in the package. Once assembled, the front forks and the wheels turn. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Suzuki Katana, with its unmistakable angular design, appeared at the beginning of the 1980s and became an icon of the motorcycle styling of its day. It was powered by an air-cooled DOHC inline four of about 1100 cc. The version captured by this model adds sporting equipment, among other things powerful brakes with a large front disc and four-piston calipers and a floating rear caliper, which turn the Katana into a sharply tuned machine.
The engine and its cooling fins deserve careful emphasis; a dark wash in the recesses and a light dry brush along the edges both work well. Glue the frame and the fairing with thin plastic model cement and keep fingerprints off the chrome and gloss surfaces. For a deep shine on the bodywork use a gloss clear coat and fine polishing; apply the type and sponsor decals onto a perfectly smooth base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
