Spitfire Mk.IX double-sided masks is a set of masking templates in 1:24 scale with parts for both sides of the glazing. It serves for spraying the canopy framing, not for building the model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a kit but a set of self-adhesive masking templates. Double-sided means that the set contains parts for the outer and the inner side of the glazing, so the canopy framing can be sprayed from both sides and no clear groove is left when you look into the cockpit. The masks are cut for the Spitfire Mk.IX kit in 1:24 scale from Airfix. In this large scale the glazing covers a striking area, so the overall impression of the model rests on clean framing.
Lift the parts off the sheet with the tip of a scalpel or with tweezers and lay them on perfectly degreased and dry glazing. Press the mask down with a soft tool so that no gap is left around the edge for paint to run through. Spray several very thin coats; a heavy coat will creep under the mask and make a step. Apply the interior shade first and then the top color, so that the framing looks right from both sides. Remove the masks as soon as the paint has set, not after it has fully cured, otherwise the edge may tear away. Remove any adhesive residue with a cotton bud moistened with water.
The set contains masks only. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
