An acrylic modeling paint from the AK interactive brand. The name gives the name of the shade, Laser Magenta, the Dual Exo range and a volume of 60 ml. It dries to a satin coat, so the result is a semi-gloss finish.

Painting over and the final varnish

A semi-gloss coat is a pleasant base for the steps that follow. A decal is less inclined to silver on it than on a flat finish, because the surface is smoother and less air stays between the film and the paint. At the same time it can be worked over further: whether you want to knock the result down to flat or, on the contrary, take it up to gloss, you need only seal the model at the end with a varnish in the degree you want. Before you reach for a varnish, though, try its compatibility with the coat on a hidden area or on an offcut.

Use

• Mix the bottle before working, as the pigment sinks to the bottom.
• Lay the paint on in thin coats, whether with a brush or an airbrush.
• Let a coat settle before you lay a decal or another coat over it.
• Choose the final varnish according to the degree of sheen the finished model is to have.
• Test the compatibility of the varnish and of any weathering products beforehand.
