This accessory set from the Czech maker Brengun is etched from thin metal sheet and is intended to refine a kit of the A-4E Skyhawk carrier attack aircraft in 1:144 scale. It is not an airplane kit, and plastic parts and decals are not included. Photo-etched parts pay off where injected plastic runs into its own thickness, that is on seat belts, the instrument panel, small doors, antennas and similar features that in this scale are only suggested in plastic.
The A-4 Skyhawk was an American single-engine carrier attack aircraft with a low-set delta wing, designed as a small, light machine able to operate from carrier decks without folding its wing. The A-4E version received a more powerful engine and a wider range of ordnance options on five hardpoints. Thanks to its agility and undemanding maintenance the type stayed in operational and training service for an exceptionally long time and served with the air forces of a number of countries.
Cut the photo-etched parts out on a hard surface with a sharp scalpel; never break them out, or they will warp. Use a bending tool for the folds, or at least two razor blades and a straight edge, and make each fold in one movement. A stiffer piece that refuses to take a sharp angle can be briefly annealed over a flame and left to cool. Degrease the metal with alcohol before gluing and apply a thin coat of primer, otherwise paint will not hold on the smooth metal. They are bonded with super glue applied with the head of a pin, not straight from the tube.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
