About product

PC10 Late — AK interactive acrylic paint, 17 ml

The shade matches the later, browner form of the British PC10 protective finish of the First World War. It is a water-thinnable modeling acrylic paint from the Air Series aviation line, in a bottle with a volume of 17 ml. The paint is ready for the airbrush as well as for brushing, it has a satin surface and a durable film, and it dries through in roughly 24 hours.

Where the color is used

The British PC10 protective finish shielded the fabric covering of aircraft from ultraviolet light and from the weather. Its color was not uniform, because both the composition and the maker differed, and finished machines could therefore look anything from green to dark brown. The PC10 Late variant captures the darker, brown-shifted tone associated with the later period. In a build it can be combined with the shade of the early variant wherever an aircraft had repaired or replaced surfaces, and completed with the fabric and wood tones from the same line.

Use and thinning

  • It is thinned with water or with acrylic thinner of the same brand; lacquer and enamel thinners do not belong in it.
  • For the airbrush it usually does not need thinning further, and it manages fine lines and transitions after a slight thinning.
  • With a brush it keeps good covering power; let thin coats dry between applications.
  • Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles during storage.
  • It holds best on a smooth base coat, and we recommend sealing the finished model with a varnish of the degree of sheen you want.

Who the paint is for

The paint is suitable for modelers of British First World War aircraft and for everyone who wants to have both tones of PC10 at hand and to show the difference between them on a model.

The paint is thinnable with water and non-toxic, but work in a ventilated space all the same, use respiratory protection when spraying with an airbrush and keep it out of the reach of children.

FAQ

Water or acrylic thinner of the same brand. Lacquer and enamel thinner do not belong in it, as they would curdle the paint.

The Air Series line is ready for the airbrush and usually it is enough to shake it. For fine lines and soft transitions, thin it slightly.

The bottle holds 17 ml of paint, which for a model in an ordinary aviation scale is enough for many builds.

We recommend one. Acrylic holds considerably better on a base coat, especially on photo-etched parts, resin and smooth plastic.

Yes, it shifts toward a browner and darker tone. The difference is clearly visible when both paints are side by side.
