The real subject

The C-130 Hercules is a four-engine turboprop transport aircraft with a high-set wing and a hinged rear ramp. It is precisely the ramp and the high wing that make it a machine which will carry a bulky load and land even on a short and unpaved surface. It has been in service all over the world for decades now, and a number of them have served in the Polish military air force as well, where they form the backbone of tactical transport.

What the sheet contains

The sheet is intended for 1:144 scale and carries the insignia and markings of machines in Polish service. Included is the anniversary scheme commemorating a hundred years of the Polish military air force, that is a coat of paint that differs from the ordinary machines. According to the name it is a complete set of technical lettering, so the sheet also covers the small service and warning captions on the fuselage, the wing and the engine nacelles. The exact layout and the number of variants are to be found in the instructions included with the sheet.

Building and painting tips

The decals are applied to a smooth glossy surface, not to a matte one. Cut the element out as closely as possible, soak it for a few seconds in lukewarm water and let it rest until it can be slid off the backing. Transfer it to the spot on a drop of water, align it and draw the water off with the edge of a paper tissue. A decal softener will help the decal settle into the engraving. The lettering in 1:144 scale is really tiny, so a pair of tweezers with a fine tip and good light pay off. Once dry, clear-coat everything, so that the edges of the carrier disappear.
