A set of two small diorama accessories from the Czech maker Brengun. It is not a model of an aircraft or a vehicle but a piece of equipment that belongs on every apron and in every hangar. Two pieces in the box let you stand one cart next to a machine under repair and leave the other parked at the edge of the apron, which gives the scene the natural untidiness of real operations.
A wheeled fire extinguisher on a simple frame is a standard part of fire protection wherever fuel is handled and open flame is used. It has to be within reach and quick to move, so it is left by the hardstands, by hangar entrances and at the refueling points. Details like these are what separate a model standing on a bare board from a scene that looks like a photograph of a real airfield.
Working with parts this small calls for a sharp scalpel, tweezers and patience; take the parts off the fret only at the moment you are going to glue them. Paint the cart away from the base and glue it onto finished terrain, otherwise a brush will not reach into the recesses. The body of the extinguisher is painted in a bright warning shade that draws the eye and breaks up the colors of the scene, while the frame gets a dark metal color. Dry-brush the wheels and the handle, and tie the bottom of the accessory into the rest of the diorama with a thin layer of dust pigment.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
