The real subject

The Douglas DC-9 was an American narrow-body airliner with two jet engines on the sides of the rear fuselage and with the tail surfaces arranged in a T. That is what made it possible to set the wing low above the ground and to turn the aircraft around even at airports with modest equipment. The series 15 was one of the short versions, whereas the series 32 had a stretched fuselage and took more passengers. Ozark Air Lines was an American regional carrier that operated the DC-9 on a network of routes in the interior, and its livery went through several forms over the years; the designation late refers to the more recent of them.

Building and painting tips

Prepare the base under the markings smooth and glossy: on a matte finish air is held under the sheet and the edges stay visible. If a decal sheet is included, check in the instructions whether it is not a self-adhesive version. A wetted self-adhesive film is ruined for good, whereas a water-slide decal can be soaked later. With a water-slide version let the decal soak in lukewarm water, move it into place and blot off the excess water; then run a coat of varnish over the dried elements, which will unify them with the surface.
