An aftermarket set of photo-etched metal parts intended to refine the external details of a plastic model of the Airbus A321 airliner in 1:144 scale. The model of the airplane itself, the paints and the glue are not included in the package; it is an accessory for a more demanding build. The photo-etched fret is prepared for the Zvezda kit.
The Airbus A321 is the longest member of the narrow-body A320 family. The stretched fuselage holds more passengers than the basic version and the aircraft is used on densely booked shorter and medium routes. Newer versions have increased range and carry wingtip devices in the shape of swept-back winglets.
Injection-molded plastic cannot produce thin sheet-metal elements at a realistic thickness. Photo-etched metal sheet replaces them and adds the small external details that decide most about the final impression on a model in 1:144 scale. The set concentrates on the exterior of the airframe, the engine nacelles and small protruding elements.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a firm surface and carry them with tweezers. Make the bends in a photo-etch bending tool, so that a crisp edge is created. Glue with a minimum of cyanoacrylate glue, ideally applied with the tip of a wire. Before painting, degrease the metal and apply a base for metal surfaces. Spray the paint in thin coats, so that the fine details are not flooded.
The set is an accessory for a model, not a standalone kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
