1:144 Douglas DC-9 flaps is a resin set of extended wing high-lift devices for a DC-9 model. An accessory for a plastic kit, not a kit of the aircraft.

A resin detail set that changes the wing of a DC-9 model from the cruise configuration into the position with the flaps extended. It is not a kit of the aircraft but a part that is built into a finished plastic model in 1:144 scale. According to the name the set is cut for a particular kit.
The DC-9 is a short to medium range airliner with the engines on the rear fuselage and a T-tail. Because the wing does not have to carry engine nacelles, its trailing edge is taken up by high-lift devices along practically the whole span and at full extension the flaps tilt down to a very noticeable angle. The type was designed for operation from shorter airports, so the difference between retracted and extended devices is among the most striking features of the aircraft on the ground. The DC-9 versions differ from one another in fuselage length and in details of the wing, so it is worth comparing the set with the variant you are building.
Wash the castings in warm water with detergent and let them dry thoroughly. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw rather than with nippers, as resin breaks under pressure. You cut the trailing edge off the wing of the kit according to the new component, and the safest way is to sketch the line of the cut first, cut a little below it and sand the rest away. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue and watch that both halves of the wing have the flaps extended at the same angle, as asymmetry shows immediately on the finished model. Paint the tracks and inner surfaces before you glue the set in. A light primer pays off on the thin edges of the flaps, as it reveals insufficiently sanded places before the final paint does.
The set is supplied as a resin accessory, unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
