About product

F/A-18F Super Hornet Vandy One, VX-9, US Navy 2023, 1:144 (Syhart Decal)

A set of wet decals for building a small model of the two-seat Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet in the striking gloss black Vandy One finish. The package contains the markings for this scheme and is intended for Super Hornet models in 1:144 scale.

The subject

In March 2023 the Super Hornet with the number 166673 received a ceremonial gloss black paint job in the Black Bunny style, with a vampire motif on the vertical tail and the nickname Vandy One. The finish recalls the legacy of the VX-4 and VX-9 test squadrons; the VX-9 Vampires squadron took over the tasks of VX-4 in 1994 and operates from China Lake in the California desert, where it flies Super Hornet and Growler aircraft.

Application

  • In the small 1:144 scale, work with the decals with particular care, using tweezers and plenty of water.
  • Varnish the surface to a gloss so that the small decals do not silver.
  • Fix them with a softener and a setting solution for perfect adhesion to the surface.

Who the set is for

  • Collectors of small models and aviation collections in 1:144 scale.
  • Lovers of striking display finishes of the US Navy.
  • Modelers who will appreciate a striking scheme even on a small model.

This is a standalone decal sheet, not a kit. The model of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included in the package.

FAQ

It is the same Vandy One scheme, but the decals are adapted for a small model in 1:144 scale.

No, these are decals only. The Super Hornet kit in 1:144 scale has to be bought separately.

In 1:144 scale the decals are small, so tweezers, a softener and patience are recommended.
