A turned metal accessory in 1:144 scale from the Polish manufacturer MASTER, intended for models of the British Harriers in the GR.3 and the two-seat T.4 versions. It replaces the plastic pitot tube, that is, the dynamic pressure sensor. It is not a kit of the aircraft but a single small replacement part.
In 1:144 scale an injection mold runs into physical limits: for a thin rod to be molded at all and not to break when it is ejected, it has to be markedly thicker than reality would warrant. The result is a blunt, often slightly bent projection that spoils an otherwise cleanly built model. Turned metal holds both the correct slender profile and the accurate stepping of diameters and it stands up to ordinary handling of a model without breaking off.
The GR.3 was the later British combat version of the first-generation Harrier. What tells it apart from the older GR.1 at first glance is the lengthened nose with additional equipment for searching for targets, which also means a different arrangement of the sensors on the nose, and that is exactly why this version has a part of its own shape. The T.4 is the corresponding two-seat trainer variant with a markedly lengthened fuselage and a raised rear cockpit.
First check on the model where exactly the sensor sits; with this version the shape of the nose tends to differ from the older Harriers. Cut the plastic original off as close to the surface as possible and sand the area gently. Drill the hole gradually, from a thin bit to the final diameter, so that the thin wall is not broken through. Glue it with super glue applied in a minimal amount. Degrease the metal with alcohol before painting and spray it with a primer for metal surfaces. Fit the part only once the varnish and the decals are finished.
This is not a kit of the aircraft but a metal accessory for one. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
