An accessory from Brengun intended for the Kovozavody Prostejov kit. It is not a kit but a replacement for the one part that gives away the quality of a build most on a model, that is the cockpit glazing. A vacuum-formed canopy is made by drawing heated clear film over a form, so it has a markedly smaller wall thickness than an injected part and you can see into the cockpit through the glazing without optical distortion.
The La-5F and La-5FN versions had a lowered fuselage spine and revised glazing with a better view to the rear compared with the original La-5. That is exactly why the canopy for these versions differs in shape from the canopy of the early La-5 and the two cannot be interchanged.
Cut the canopy out of the film with a margin, ideally with a new razor blade or a very sharp scalpel, and only then work your way to the outline. Sand the seating edge on fine abrasive paper laid on a flat board with a circular motion and test the fit on the fuselage as you go. It is a good idea to polish the finished part with polishing compound and cover it with gloss varnish, which fills in micro-scratches. It is glued with clear white glue for canopies or with varnish, as super glue would fog the clear material. Mask the frames with narrow strips of masking tape or with masking fluid.
This is an accessory to a model, not a kit. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
