An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Vickers Super VC10 Type 1151 long-range airliner in 1:144 scale from Roden. The model captures the characteristic jet airliner with its four engines mounted at the rear of the fuselage and the horizontal tail on top of the fin (a T-tail layout). The cabin glazing is done as clear inset parts. Check the actual package contents and the decals against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Vickers VC10 was a British long-range airliner that first flew in 1962. The stretched Super VC10 version offered higher capacity and more powerful Rolls-Royce Conway engines, and from 1964 it was operated by the British airline BOAC. Mounting the four engines at the rear of the fuselage gave the aircraft clean wings and a quieter cabin; the machine became known for its performance on long-haul routes, above all across the North Atlantic.
Glue the parts with a thin cement for plastic; align and sand the long fuselage and the wing joints carefully. Fix the glazed windows with canopy glue so that the clear plastic does not fog. Lay down a gloss coat before the decals, which airline decals take well. A stand suits the model for display, and finishing with a polished gloss coat will underline the glossy finish of airliners of the period.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
