Black Pearl LED Editio

The real subject

Black Pearl is the name of a pirate sailing ship made famous by the film series about Caribbean pirates. Her look includes a dark hull, black sails and richly carved decoration at the stern, that is, the form of a sailing ship from the time when fast armed ships sailed the Caribbean. The model therefore stands on the side of film romance rather than exact naval history and suits anywhere a piece of a pirate expedition is to appear on a shelf.

What a three-dimensional puzzle is

The parts are taken out of the sheets and joined in the order given by the instructions into a structure that stands up by itself; no picture comes about as it does with a flat puzzle. The form designated LED Edition also has lighting, thanks to which the ship makes an impression after dark too. The number of parts, the dimensions of the finished model and the way the light is powered are stated on the packaging and in the enclosed instructions.

What to watch out for

• Assemble it on a flat surface with a rim, as small parts are easily lost otherwise.
• Push the joints in square and without force; a bent part will no longer hold.
• Put the lighting in at the step given by the instructions, as getting it into a finished hull is difficult.
• Before you close the hull up, check that the light works.
• Leave the masts and rigging until the end; they are the most vulnerable part of the finished model.

Who it is for

The puzzle suits a gift for fans of pirate stories, a joint project for a free evening and a lit decoration. No modeling tools are needed for it. Glue, paints and batteries are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
