This product is not a model of the tank but an accessory set of castings for a build in the large 1:16 scale. It replaces the protective guards that on the real vehicle shielded the observation periscopes in the hatches and in the hull roof. The set comes from Firma49, whose small accessories cover several scales, so a builder can get the same element for smaller models too.
The periscope guards on the Sherman are conspicuous and at the same time small, which is an awkward combination for an injection mold. Production parts are therefore usually too thick and have rounded edges. A casting can hold the sharp transition between the wall and the roof of the guard and keep the correct material thickness. On a large-scale model this difference is visible even from a normal viewing distance, because the eye is drawn to the turret and the hatches on a tank.
It is intended for builders of large models of American tanks who want to take the turret and the hatches all the way in detail. Working with resin assumes a certain amount of experience, but the reward is a marked improvement in exactly the places every visitor to the cabinet looks at. Neither the base model nor glue is included in the package.
