1:16 Modern Female Photographer

Diana — a modern female photographer (1:16, DEF Model)

This is a resin figure for experienced modelers. In 1:16 scale it is a large figure, roughly eleven centimeters tall, on which every detail stands out — and that is exactly why it is such a rewarding subject both for practice and for showing off face painting. The figure represents a modern woman photographer in civilian clothing, in a standing pose with two digital SLR cameras; a fine photo-etched camera strap is included. The figure is broken down into several resin parts.

Building and painting tips

• Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water — this removes the mold release agent and any resin residue.
• Cut the casting blocks off with a sharp scalpel or a saw; glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue).
• Apply a primer before painting; the large surfaces of 1:16 forgive fewer mistakes, so the quality of the base shows all the more.
• Build the face up in layers: a lighter flesh tone base, shadows in the recesses, a gentle highlight on the raised areas; leave the eyes and lips to last with a fine brush.
• Paint the clothing and the cameras separately and fit them at the end; pick out the metal parts with a dark wash.

Who the figure is for

• For collectors and figure painters who want a large format and room for detailed face painting.
• For builders of modern civilian scenes and dioramas, where a figure outside a military context fits.
• For advanced modelers — working with resin and painting a face call for experience.

The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Use a respirator and ventilate when sanding resin.
