The sixth Sd.Kfz. 234 wheel variant with a spare for 1:16 scale closes the range of tread patterns made for this eight-wheeled vehicle.
Responsibility details are not available.
The sixth pattern of tires for a large model of the heavy reconnaissance car, complemented by a wheel for the external bracket. The rubber is pressed in at the ground, as it tends to be on a laden vehicle, so once fitted the model sits on its base without an unnatural point of contact. Anyone building several machines of this family can use the different patterns to set each one apart.
One of the most interesting features of the whole design concerned the steering. The vehicle had two full driving positions, front and rear, and all the wheels steered. A patrol that ran into the enemy therefore did not have to risk turning around on a narrow track under fire. The second driver simply took over and the machine reversed as fast as it had been driving forward. In reconnaissance, where survival is measured in seconds, this was a fundamental advantage, and crews valued the feature more than the strength of the armament.
Paint the axles and their mountings before you fit the wheels. If you leave the tires until the end, you can reach the inner side of the wheel arch with a brush and can then draw the deposit of dust continuously from the ground upwards across both.
It serves to improve a kit you have already obtained, and on its own it will build nothing.
