A resin powerplant set for a model of the Westland Sea King helicopter in 1:72 scale from the CMK brand. An accessory for a kit already under way, not a helicopter model. Intended for the Airfix kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This CMK set is a resin accessory aimed at the engine section of a model of the Westland Sea King helicopter in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit of the machine but a set of parts fitted into the base kit. On helicopters the engine section is one of the places where the work pays off most: open the covers and the model suddenly looks like a machine under maintenance rather than a closed shell. The set is intended for the Airfix kit.
An injection-molded kit usually leaves the space under the covers empty, and the covers themselves are molded in one piece. A resin set makes it possible to show the inside, which at this scale has a finer texture than can be molded in plastic. How far you cut into the model depends on how far you want the section exposed — some of the parts have a use even with the covers closed.
Wash the parts in warm soapy water so that no mold release agent is left on them and the paint holds. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and true up the surfaces; protect your airways when sanding resin. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Mark the cuts in the covers out beforehand and run the cut from the inside, so that you have somewhere to hide any inaccuracy. Spray the inside with a primer first, then the base shade, and finally bring out the detail with a dark wash and a light touch of the dry brush.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
