A set of decals in 1:16 scale for a model of the German StuG III assault gun. The markings are tied to the Eastern Front and the name gives the units StuG-Abteilung 191, Panzer Abt (FKL) 302 and 1. Ski-Jäger Division. The package offers markings on their own for a finished model, not a kit.
StuG III assault guns served with independent artillery detachments as infantry support, but step by step they took on an anti-tank role as well. The units named are quite different from one another. Detachments with the FKL designation operated remote-controlled demolition carriers, and assault guns with them filled the role of control and escort vehicles. The Ski-Jäger units, by contrast, were light formations intended for fighting in winter terrain, raised only in the second half of the war. The vehicles thus stood side by side in very different tasks.
For the Eastern Front a winter version with a temporary white coat is often built. If you reach for one, think the order through: the markings usually go under the white layer, which is then partly rubbed away. Coat the base under a design with a gloss varnish, use a softener and only then work on the chipping and the patina. A matte varnish at the end will unify both the paint and the film.
The set is an accessory to a model. You will not find paints or glue in the package.
