An injection-molded plastic figure, WWII German Machine Gun Ammo-Belt Loader, in 1:16 scale from Tamiya: a German soldier carrying a machine gun tripod mount.
Responsibility details are not available.
A large injection-molded plastic figure of a German soldier in 1:16 scale from the Japanese maker Tamiya, out of the World Figure Series. The figure captures an assistant of a machine gun squad carrying the tripod mount of a heavy machine gun. The large scale allows rich detail on the uniform and the equipment; according to the instructions the figure can be built with or without a helmet.
From 1942 the MG42 machine gun became the main machine gun of the German army, and for accurate fire it was mounted on a folding tripod mount. That was easy to carry and in a squad it was usually carried by one of the assistants. The uniform matches the early pattern from the beginning of the Second World War, and the figure carries period infantry equipment: ammunition pouches, a canteen, an entrenching shovel, a gas mask case and a pistol holster.
Fit the parts with cement for plastic and sand the joints carefully, as the seams show clearly at a large scale. Apply a primer before painting. At a larger scale the painting of the face and the hands with smooth transitions and the texture of the uniform fabric come into their own; shade and highlight the field gray, and paint in and lightly weather the equipment and the mount.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
