An etched instrument panel for a model of the Sea Harrier FA.2 in 1:72 scale, prepared for the Airfix kit. It replaces the smooth plastic part from the box.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Sea Harrier FA.2 is a British carrier-based combat aircraft with vertical take-off and landing, operated from ships. The FA.2 version was a modernization aimed at air combat and is told from the older machines among other things by the differently arranged equipment of the cockpit. It is precisely the cockpit that is seen best on a model in 1:72 scale through the clear canopy, so investing in it pays off.
These are etched metal parts of the instrument panel intended for the Airfix kit. The etched part is incomparably thinner than the plastic part from the box and carries crisply rendered outlines of the instruments and controls that cannot be molded into plastic at this scale. How many parts there are and in what order they are assembled is given by the manufacturer's instructions. For the work, prepare a sharp blade, fine-tipped tweezers and a firm surface.
Cut the parts out of the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface; do not break them off, as the metal would bend. Sand the remainder of the tab with a fine file or a sanding sponge. Make the folds over a straight edge or in a bending tool, always in one go and without folding back and forth. It is glued with super glue; modeling glue does not hold on metal. Before painting, degrease the metal and spray it with a primer, otherwise the coat will peel off. The original plastic molding of the panel usually has to be sanded down first, so that the canopy fits once the etched part is stuck on.
What is supplied is the etched set on its own. The aircraft kit, paints, glue and primer are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
