A universal stencil for spraying leak marks and running stains on models. It is not tied to a particular scale or to a particular model.
Responsibility details are not available.
Real machines are never clean. Under filler necks, around caps, on the joints of covers and under rivets, leak marks are left behind: dark drips, running stains and rusty streaks. On a model it is exactly these details that decide whether the result reads as a scaled-down machine or as a toy. Painting them freehand and keeping them in scale at the same time is difficult, because the mark has to be thin and softly bounded. A stencil draws such a shape for you and can be repeated in the same quality in several places on the model.
Lay the stencil on a base coat that is already dry and hold it close against the surface so that the paint does not run underneath. Spray with very thin paint, at low pressure and only as a hint: the stain builds up gradually, in two or three passes, not all at once. Watch the direction in which the mark runs, because a stain always heads downward, that is toward the ground in the position in which the model will stand. When you are finished, clean the stencil so that dried paint does not narrow the edges of the openings.
A stencil is supplied. Paints, thinner and other modeling supplies are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
