A kit of the German 88 mm Flak 36 gun in the large 1:18 scale - the legendary anti-aircraft and anti-tank gun of the Second World War in an exceptionally large form.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the famous German 88 mm gun in the Flak 36 version, in the exceptionally large 1:18 scale. Thanks to the large scale the wealth of detail of the mechanism, the carriage and the breech comes into its own and the finished model reaches impressive dimensions. It is a gun, not a vehicle - the build concentrates on the carriage, the barrel and the operating gear.
The 88 mm caliber is among the best known German weapons of the Second World War. Originally an anti-aircraft gun, it proved exceptionally effective against tanks as well and was committed in both roles throughout the war. The Flak 36 version followed on from the earlier Flak 18 with a number of improvements; it could be set up on a cruciform carriage for fire against aircraft and against ground targets alike. It was precisely this versatility and penetration that made the eighty-eight a feared weapon.
A large scale forgives fewer inaccuracies - take care with clean fit and a firm bond on the carriage, which carries the weight of the whole model. Finish and paint the mechanism and the breech before closing them up. A restrained patina suits the German dark yellow (or early gray) base - a wash in the recesses of the mechanism, a dry brush on the edges and dust pigments on the lower parts and the outrigger arms of the carriage. Pick out the metal surfaces of the barrel and the breech.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
