Trumpeter 1:200 Ar 196 is a plastic kit of a shipborne reconnaissance floatplane in a set of several examples, meant chiefly for completing ship models in 1:200.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Arado Ar 196 shipborne floatplane in 1:200 from the maker Trumpeter. The package holds several examples of the same aircraft, so one ship's deck can be fitted out with the whole catapult equipment and spare machines as well. Because of the scale these are small models with a simple build, most often used as an accessory to large ship models in 1:200.
The Ar 196 was a two-seat reconnaissance floatplane that became the standard shipborne machine of the Kriegsmarine in the Second World War. It took off from the catapult of large surface ships and landed on the water, from where the ship hoisted it with a crane. It was powered by an air-cooled radial engine and, besides reconnaissance, it also carried out patrolling over the sea and light attack.
Cut the small parts in this scale off the sprue with a sharp scalpel or with sprue cutters and sand them with a fine file, so that the floats and struts do not break off. Glue with thin plastic cement applied with a fine brush — it will flow into the joint by capillary action and will not clog the detail. Spraying is the surest way of painting, as a small surface is easily filled by thick paint from a brush. In this scale it is better only to suggest the panel lines with a thin wash, so that the model does not look broken up.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
