3D decals for the cockpit of the Su-27UB in 1:72 scale — color relief printing for the two-seat combat trainer version with two stations.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of three-dimensional decals for the interior of a plastic model of the two-seat Su-27UB in 1:72 scale, cut for the kit from the Trumpeter brand. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory: besides printed color the decals also carry a layer of firm relief, and they are applied directly onto the plastic cockpit parts. On the two-seat version their benefit is still more pronounced, because not one but two stations have to be colored by hand.
The Sukhoi Su-27UB is the two-seat combat trainer form of the Su-27 fighter. The second crew member sits behind the pilot in a raised position, and because of that the machine has a higher spine and a revised canopy. Both stations are fully equipped and analog, that is densely packed with round instruments. A set for the two-seat version therefore cannot be replaced by a set for the single-seat Su-27 — both the layout and the number of panels differ.
Spray the cockpit parts with the base interior color and let them dry thoroughly. Cut the decals out close to the edge, soak them briefly in lukewarm water and transfer them with tweezers; in 1:72 scale the areas are very small, so have good light and a magnifier ready. The relief layer is thicker than on an ordinary decal — let it bed down gradually into the shape of the part and press it only gently with a cotton swab. Dose the softener drop by drop. With a two-seat cockpit, think through the order of gluing in advance, so that you reach the rear station before the fuselage is closed up.
