3D decals for the cockpit of the OV-10A Bronco in 1:72 scale — color relief printing for an interior that is thoroughly visible under the extensively glazed canopy.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of three-dimensional decals for the interior of a plastic model of the OV-10A Bronco in 1:72 scale, cut for the kit from the ICM brand. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory: besides printed color the decals also carry a layer of firm relief, and they are applied directly onto the plastic cockpit parts. They therefore replace the coloring of dials and lettering, which in this scale needs a very steady hand.
The North American Rockwell OV-10A Bronco is a twin-engined turboprop aircraft for forward air control and light support of ground forces. The crew sits in tandem under a long canopy glazed to the sides and downwards, which gave them an exceptional view. That is exactly what matters for a modeler: the interior of the Bronco stays strikingly on view on a finished model, so a well-worked cockpit pays off more than on machines with a narrow canopy.
Spray the cockpit parts with the base interior color and let them dry completely. Cut the decal out close to the edge, soak it briefly in lukewarm water and transfer it with tweezers; in 1:72 scale the areas are really small, so have good light and a magnifier ready. The relief layer is thicker than on an ordinary decal — let it bed down slowly into the shape of the part and press it gently with a cotton swab. Add the softener drop by drop, or the relief risks rippling. A dry interior only needs flattening slightly, and the glazing is fitted right at the end.
