1:35 Holographic film M551A1 Sheridan is an accessory for a model of the American light tank. It deals with the detail on which the credibility of a finished model most often breaks down, namely the optics.
Responsibility details are not available.
The M551 Sheridan is an American light armored vehicle armed with a 152 mm weapon system; the A1 version is its later form. This accessory from the SX-Art brand in 1:35 scale adds a lively gloss to its optics. Neither a model nor plastic parts are in the package.
A real periscope is an optical instrument with glasses, prisms and coatings that change the color of the reflection according to the angle. Reduced in scale it usually turns into a little rectangle painted black, or varnished over with gloss. That difference is exactly what the eye recognizes even without naming it: a model with dead vision blocks looks like a sculpture, a model with livelily gleaming optics like a vehicle in miniature. A holographic layer can do what a single-color coat cannot, namely change its shade depending on where you look from.
The film is neither painted nor varnished over. It is fitted only to a finished vehicle, after the varnishing, the decals and the weathering. The seat of the vision block has to be clean and dry, because every speck under a glossy surface creates a dark patch. Use tweezers, not your fingers, as prints tell on a surface like that.
