A large Excel gouge blade with a U profile, two pieces in the package. Its rounded edge scoops out a rounded channel rather than a sharp furrow.
Responsibility details are not available.
A gouge blade is not a knife. It has no straight edge but an edge shaped into a channel, so it does not slice material but scoops it out. A U profile means a rounded bottom, that is a groove with a rounded section and soft edges. This shape is built for scooping out material and for shaping a surface, not for separating parts. According to the designation there are 2 pieces in the package and it is the large form, so it is meant for an area rather than for small detail.
What it is used for
A U profile makes a rounded groove with a rounded bottom. It is used where a transition is meant to be soft, that is on channels, hollows and organic shapes. A V profile, by contrast, makes a groove sharply wedge-shaped and suits marking out seams and engraved lines. If you mix the shapes up the result looks out of place, because a rounded channel in place of a sharp seam looks like wear rather than like a dividing line.
Work in short strokes and take little off. A gouge blade tends to find its own path under pressure and to go deeper than you want, and material can be removed but not put back. Always cut away from your body and away from the hand holding the part, and better still clamp the part. On hard plastic the blade slips easily, so removing material in layers is safer than trying to hit the depth at the first attempt.
