Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. a3 - German Light Tank in 1:35 scale is a plastic kit of the early German light tank from the Polish maker IBG models.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of an early form of the German light tank in 1:35 scale from the production of the Polish brand IBG models. The real subject is one of the pre-production variants of the Panzer II, that is, a machine from the time when the German armored units were only coming into being and the design was still changing fundamentally. For a collector that is interesting precisely because the early versions differ at first glance from the machines that later became common.
The Pz.Kpfw. II was a light tank armed with an automatic 2 cm cannon and a coaxial machine gun in a rotating turret. The cannon allowed rapid fire against lightly armored targets and against personnel, but it was weak against genuine tank armor; the crew numbered three men. The Ausf. a form, divided into the sub-series a/1 to a/3, belonged to the first pre-production batches, and its identifying feature is a different running gear: six small road wheels on leaf springs grouped into bogies, that is, an arrangement that differs at first glance from the later versions with large independently sprung wheels. The successive series differed from each other mainly in cooling, the gearbox and small items on the hull. Machines of this form served above all for training and for proving the design, but some of them also went into the first combat operations. The Pz.Kpfw. II stayed in service as a reconnaissance and supplementary type long after heavier machines had replaced it in the role of the main tank.
The most demanding part is the running gear with its many small wheels, so allow yourself a calm pace for it and build it on a flat surface, so that the tracks end up seating straight. Finish and paint the interior and the inner sides of the hull before you close the hull up. Use a thin modeling cement for plastic, sand the joints down once dry and unify the surface with primer. Spray the base shade with an airbrush in thin layers. On early German machines a sober weathering suits well: a dark wash into the details, a careful dry brush on the edges and dust pigments on the running gear. The tracks and the underside of the hull will take the most, so leave the rest of the model cleaner.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
