Landing flaps and airbrakes for the Fokker 100 in 1:144 scale are an accessory set thanks to which a model shows both the wing and the tail in the landing position.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory that is built into a kit of the Fokker 100. It deals with two places at once: the trailing edge of the wing, where a plastic kit offers only retracted flaps, and the rear fuselage with the airbrakes. It is precisely that combination that gives a model an unambiguous landing configuration, because the opened tail is a distinguishing mark of the Fokker and you see it in almost every photograph taken on approach.
The Fokker 100 was the stretched and modernized successor to the Fokker F28. It was powered by Rolls-Royce Tay turbofan engines and, compared with its predecessor, it received a new wing, a longer fuselage and a modern flight deck. The treatment of the tail it inherited from the F28: the airbrake is formed by the very end of the fuselage, which opens out to the sides like two shells. The aircraft uses it for a steeper descent and after touchdown, which is a detail usually lost on a model, because the kit has the tail molded in one piece.
The most sensitive thing is the cut at the rear fuselage: make it while both halves of the fuselage are still separate, as the work is then incomparably easier and you have access from the inside. Glue the opened shells on only at the very end, otherwise you will break them off during handling. The inner surfaces of the airbrakes tend to be shaded differently from the outer paint on the real aircraft, so spray them separately and only then join the assembly. With the flaps the same holds as with the other conversions: a dry test, filling the joint and sanding it smooth.
