1:72 Nakajima C6N Saiun undercarriage bay paint masks is a set of die-cut masks for the landing gear bays of a model of the Japanese carrier reconnaissance aircraft in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set covers the painted inside of the landing gear bays, so that the top shade cannot get into it while the airframe is sprayed. The shape is cut in advance and matches the geometry of the bay, so it seats in it with no adjustment. Intended for a model in 1:72 scale.
The Nakajima C6N Saiun was a carrier reconnaissance aircraft of the Imperial Japanese Navy, built above all for speed and range. It had a slender fuselage, clean aerodynamic shapes and retractable landing gear. A model built with the legs extended therefore offers a view into the bays that a careful builder cannot avoid.
Masking fluid is easy to apply into the corners of a bay, but it takes a long time to dry, sometimes leaves residue in recesses once it is lifted and tends to leave a frayed edge. A die-cut film gives a crisp and repeatable transition and comes off in one pull. The price is that it has to be seated precisely, because a mask that has shifted cannot be retouched with a brush afterwards. It pays, therefore, to try it dry and only then reach for the airbrush.
