1:35 American M1A1 antitank mine is a small modeling accessory for dioramas and vignettes. It serves to fit out scenes with engineer units and to fill cargo spaces, not as a model in its own right.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a modeling accessory, not a kit. In 1:35 scale, the largest of the common military scales, a small item like this is clearly visible and is therefore rewarding at the front of a scene. The scaled-down M1A1 antitank mine can be laid beside figures, stacked in a crate on the bed of a truck, fixed to a vehicle fender or spread around the terrain of a diorama meant to depict engineer work.
The M1A1 was an American heavy antitank mine used from the Second World War on. It had a circular metal body with a flat lid and a pressure fuze in the middle. For a modeler it is exactly that shape that matters, a low metal disc with a pronounced central element and with carrying handles, which is clearly legible in 1:35 scale and distinguishable from its German or Soviet counterparts. The mines were carried in crates and in the field engineer units laid them by hand.
Clean the part of production residue and bond it with super glue, because ordinary plastic cement does not work here. Use a primer before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. The classic finish is matte olive or dark green with a sand or dust tint to match the terrain. Small objects are easiest to paint pushed onto a wooden stick, so that they can be turned. The circular edge and the central element deserve a light dry brush so that the shape does not disappear in a photograph.
