1:48 American M1A1 antitank mine is a small accessory for dioramas and vignettes in 1:48 scale. It fills out a scene with engineer units or the load of a vehicle; it is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The 1:48 scale is home to both aircraft and ground equipment, and small items pay off there most of all. In this scale the scaled-down M1A1 antitank mine serves to fill out scenes where a load, a store or engineer work is on show. You can spread it around the bed of a vehicle, stack it in crates beside figures or set it on the ground at a field post. It is not a model in its own right but an element that lends a scene credibility.
The M1A1 was an American heavy antitank mine introduced during the Second World War. Its shape is unmistakable: a low circular metal body with a flat lid, a central pressure fuze and carrying handles. That is exactly why it can be told apart at first glance from its German or Soviet counterparts even in 1:48 scale. The mines were carried in transport crates and engineer units laid them by hand in the field, which is a rewarding motif for a diorama.
Clean the part of production residue and bond it with super glue, because ordinary plastic cement does not hold on other materials. In 1:48 scale the object is genuinely small, so it pays to work with tweezers and to paint it before you set it into the scene. Spray it with primer, use matte olive as the base and bring the shape out with a very gentle dry brush. A heavy wash does not work here; on such a small surface it would rather drown the shape.
