A fourteen-inch wheel of the Bavarian tuning house Alpina, the rims alone, intended for models of Munich cars.
Responsibility details are not available.
Alpina started out in a small Bavarian village as a workshop that turned ordinary Munich sedans into fast touring cars. A wheel of its own was among its first products and became so characteristic that a car can be recognized by it even from a distance. The basis is a high number of very slender arms issuing from a small center, which gives the rim an airiness the factory wheels of the day did not have. Fourteen inches was meanwhile the size of an ordinary car, so the modification was carried out on the level of taste, not of size.
The most logical use is a conversion: you take a kit of an ordinary Munich sedan or coupe of the seventies and eighties and make a club car of it with the equipment of the Bavarian tuning house. It is precisely the wheel that is the first thing a viewer notices with such a conversion, and at the same time the simplest step toward a build ceasing to look like a series car. Even a builder with a few finished models behind him will manage it, because you do not touch the body.
The package carries the rims alone. That means you choose the profile of the tire yourself, and with a conversion to a club car that is an advantage: a raised and a lowered version of the same car need a different tire side. Check the diameter of the bead, so that the rim sits in the rubber without play.
Slender arms will not bear a heavy layer. Spray thinly, ideally in two goes, otherwise the drawing will be clogged and the wheel will lose exactly the airiness you are getting it for. The center tends to be set apart in color, which is a small but very effective detail when painting.
