The Toyo Proxes R888R is a circuit tire of the Japanese brand Toyo Tires. It belongs among the so-called semi-slicks: it has a far shallower and coarser tread pattern than ordinary road rubber, it is built for track days and amateur racing, and at the same time it keeps its homologation for use on the road. Its mark is wide tread blocks separated by only a few longitudinal grooves. The designation 245/30 R20 given in the name describes the width and the profile of the tire on the real subject.
Before you fit a tire onto a rim, go around the circumference of the tread and level the mark left by the parting plane of the mold with fine abrasive paper. Rubber looks more faithful on a model when it is not coal black: a faint hint of dark gray or brownish gray on the sides breaks the uniform area up and brings out the relief. The lettering on the side stands out nicely when you suggest it carefully with a thin brush in a light gray paint.
