An injection-molded plastic kit from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima in 1:24 scale. It is not a production car but a version from the Grand Champion range, which Aoshima devotes to Japanese street modifications of the 1970s and 1980s. The model therefore carries period accessories in the style of the scene of the time: a front spoiler under the bumper, a striking rear wing, deep chrome wheels and stretched tires with a low sidewall. The basis is a Nissan Cedric of the 330 series.
The Nissan Cedric of the 330 series was built from the middle of the 1970s and was among the mainstays of the Japanese upper class. The body was built on straight edges, a long front end and abundant chrome. It was precisely large sedans and hardtops of this type that young Japanese enthusiasts chose for modifications inspired by circuit cars: a low stance, wide wheels pulled out of the fenders, spoilers and wings. In Japan this style is still a collector's category of its own today.
The character of the model is determined by the wheels and the stance. Check dry how the deep wheels sit in the fenders and fine-tune any stretch of the tire by packing the axle while the body is not yet glued on. Do not paint the chrome wheels, only degrease them and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Period shades with a high gloss suit the body: spray over filler primer in thin coats and finish with gloss varnish and polishing. Glue the spoilers and the wing on only after painting, so that the edges can be masked cleanly.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
