It treats the Chevrolet Bel Air of the 1955 model year in a street machine conversion, that is, in the form of a modified street car with lowered suspension and modern wheels, as American meets and shows know them. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Chevrolet Bel Air of the 1955 to 1957 model years is among the most iconic American cars of the 1950s. The 1955 model year brought an entirely new body with sharp lines and above all a new eight-cylinder engine with an OHV valvetrain, which became the basis of American engine engineering for decades to come. It was precisely the combination of a light body and a widely available eight-cylinder engine that made these cars a popular basis for modification. The street machine form adds lowering, wider wheels, a modified interior and a more striking finish to that, so it is not a faithful replica of a production car but a car modified by its owner.
American bodies have large smooth surfaces on which every unevenness shows. Sand the seams down, therefore, and use a filler primer. Spray the gloss finish in thin coats and leave enough time between them for drying; polishing pays off only after several days. Leave the chrome parts where they are and mask the paint off from them, or restore the chrome with a special paint. Do the chassis and the interior in matte and semi-matte shades, so that the body stays the main feature of the model. Matte the tires lightly down, so that they do not come across as plastic.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
