A detailed plastic kit of the legendary sports car DeLorean DMC-12 in 1:24 scale from the Japanese brand Aoshima. The model captures the factory production form of the car from 1982 with its characteristic unpainted stainless steel body and gull-wing doors, which can be built open or closed on the model. The kit offers a faithfully rendered engine compartment, chassis and interior and is molded in white and black plastic with chrome-plated and clear parts.
The DeLorean DMC-12 is a sports car built in Northern Ireland at the beginning of the 1980s. It was designed by the Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, and Lotus took part in the chassis concept. The car became famous for its brushed stainless steel body without paint, its gull-wing doors and its rear-mounted engine. Worldwide fame came to it through the film trilogy Back to the Future, where it served as the basis of the time machine; this kit, however, captures the purely civilian production version.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic. The unpainted stainless steel body is best captured with a matte metallic paint or with a brushed steel effect paint laid down with an airbrush; mask the chrome-plated and clear parts and varnish them carefully. Weather the interior and the engine with a fine wash to bring out the detail.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
