Decalcas has prepared a set of decals in 1:24 scale that makes it possible to finish a model of the short-wheelbase Audi Quattro Sport S1 in the form in which the car of the works Audi Sport team lined up at the American Toyota Olympus Rally event in 1985. The set belongs on a finished body, and the model itself is bought separately.
The Sport quattro was created by shortening the wheelbase of the production coupe, so that the special would respond better to the steering wheel on narrow sections. Under the hood worked a turbocharged five-cylinder and the power went to all four wheels, which was a recipe that kept Audi at the top in the Group B of the day. The car with the number one was entrusted by the marque on the gravel of Washington state to the pairing of Hannu Mikkola and Arne Hertz.
The extensive white areas of the car deserve a carefully polished glossy base; a flat surface shows through from under a decal and creates a grayish frame around it. Use water that is lukewarm rather than hot to release the motif from the backing, as in hot water the thin film slides off before you manage to transfer it.
Neither a kit of the car nor painting material is in the package.
