A resin body set that turns the civilian BMW E36 coupe into the sharp M3 – deeper bumpers, extended sills and wedge-shaped mirrors.
Responsibility details are not available.
The E36 3 Series went on sale at the end of the 1980s, and the sharp M3 followed on it in 1992. From the outside surprisingly few parts separated it from the civilian coupe: a deeper front bumper with larger air intakes, extended sills, a different rear bumper and mirrors with their characteristic wedge-shaped housing. Anyone building a model of the M3 deals with exactly those details, because neither the engine nor the interior is visible from the outside.
The Ukrainian workshop divides its production into four groups. The widest is the range of wheels and tires, the second is interior accessories and small equipment, the third conversion and detail sets for the body, engine and interior, and the fourth just four complete resin car kits. This item falls into the third group and lies at its narrowest edge in scope, because it keeps to a single theme and does not touch the rest of the model.
The rebuild concerns the shape of the exterior alone. The interior and the engine bay stay as they come, which simplifies the build markedly against the more extensive conversions from the same maker. The castings call for the usual preparation of resin: cut off the casting gates, sand the mating surfaces flat and wash the parts in warm water with detergent, so that no mold release agent stays on the surface.
It serves best on a model of the civilian E36 that you want to move toward the sharp version, or wherever the original plastic parts do not match in shape. Once the filler has been applied the surface is painted with ordinary modeling paints.
