The item designated 1:24 Driver / civilian pilot N°1 from Black Dog is a collector's figure for a modeling scene in 1:24 scale. According to the name it is a civilian behind the steering wheel or beside an aircraft, that is an accessory to a finished machine and to the scene around it.
1:24 is one of the larger modeling formats and it is the home size of car kits. A figure in it stands up to a close look, because even fine transitions of shade show on it that would be lost in a smaller format. At the same time it does a job that an empty machine can never do: it gives the displayed car a human scale, so the viewer immediately judges how big the real subject actually is.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry so that the paint holds. A thin coat of primer follows, ideally in a gray or flesh tone. Build the skin up from a mid flesh layer toward the lighter raised areas and the darker recesses, and work the clothing the other way round, that is from a dark base with lightened edges of the folds. Leave the finest details for last; a fine brush and a firm support for the hand pay off there.
